About Luke
Psychotherapist: Licensed Professional Counselor
I am a Contemplative therapist blending buddhist mindfulness-based practices with contemporary therapeutic techniques, such as ACT, DBT, and CBT, to support equanimity and personal growth. My approach emphasizes the role of awareness in transformation and self-insight. By integrating contemplative practices with evidence-based methods, I provide clients I work with a safe, collaborative space to explore, practice new skills and facilitate enduring change.
I specialize in helping individuals navigate stress with a focus on mind-body connections in therapy. This includes everyday stress that leads to high anxiety, burnout and difficulties in close relationships. It also means I work often with the lasting effect of past stress such as traumas, abuse, complex family dynamics and systemic sources of harm.
I am a consistent student and practitioner of meditation and related awareness-based practices with over two decades of practice, including Zen and Shamatha-Vipashyana. These practices have supported me in cultivating an expansive understanding of the mind and its capacity for awareness, clarity, and growth. Participation in meditation retreats during graduate work, and the opportunity to study with lineage holders have been the ground of my training and deeply inform my therapeutic approach. This extensive experience enables me to guide clients with authenticity and presence, helping them develop insight and self-compassion on their own journeys.
Outside of clinical work, I climb, paint, and enjoy primitive camping.
